Hi, I’m Maxine, the founder of Jolly Sprouts Books.

Jolly Sprouts Books began with a simple idea: to create the kind of books I would be excited to place in the hands of my own children.

As a mum, I’ve seen how much children enjoy discovering something they can call their own, whether it’s getting lost in a story, bringing a colouring page to life, solving an activity or learning something new without it feeling like a lesson. Those everyday moments became a big part of the inspiration behind Jolly Sprouts Books.

My Papua New Guinean heritage is also an important source of inspiration. Through some of our books, I hope to introduce young readers to the stories, traditions, places and imagination of Papua New Guinea, while creating a wider collection of storybooks, colouring books, activity books and educational resources for children everywhere.

For me, creating a book is about more than filling pages. I want children to open a Jolly Sprouts book and find something that sparks their curiosity, keeps little hands busy and most importantly, makes the experience fun.
